AS PER THE ILO STATISTICS 2.3 MILLIONS HUMAN BEINGS ARE AFFECTED EVERY YEAR DUE TO WORK RELATED ACCIDENTS AND ILL HEALTH, THIS RESULTS IN 6000 DEATHS EACH DAY ON AN AVERAGE. THIS STATS ALSO CONTRIBUTES WORKPLACE TRANSPORT ACCIDENTS, EVERY YEAR ABOUT 50 PEOPLE ARE KILLED AND MORE THAN 5000 PEOPLE ARE INJURED IN ACCIDENTS INVOLVING WORKPLACE TRANSPORT (WWW.HSE.GOV.UK/STATISTICS). FURTHER AS PER ILO CONVENTIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS C155/R164 EMPLOYER MORAL DUTY TO CARE AND PROVIDE REASONABLY SAFE WORKING ENVIRONMENT, EQUIPMENT TOOL AND SUBSTANCES. IT IS ALSO WORKERS MORAL RIGHT TO EARN THEIR LIVELIHOOD AND RETURN HOME SAFELY.
ANSWER CONTENT /BODY:
LOOKING AT THE SCENARIO IT SEEMS LIKE MANAGEMENT HAVE VERY POOR ATTITUDE
TOWARDS HSE AND LEAST BOTHERED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE PEOPLE WORKING IN
THE ORGANISATION. CONTRACT MANAGER BAD BEHAVIOR IS UNACCEPTABLE AS HE IS
IRRITABLE AND ABUSIVE WHEN HE IS INTERRUPTED AND HE IS NOT FREQUENTLY
APPROACHABLE. CONTRACT MANAGER BAD BEHAVIOR INFLUENCING THE WORKER AS WELL
DUE TO WHICH THE HAVE FEAR OF BEING BLAMED AND REPORTING THE NEAR MISSES
AND INCIDENTS TO THE MANAGEMENT. EVEN BEFORE THERE WERE
NO INVESTIGATIONS ACTIONS TAKEN ON THE PREVIOUS COMPLAINTS FROM
WORKERS IT HIGHLIGHTS THE FAILURE OF MANAGEMENT COMMITMENT.
THE PARKING AREA SPACE IS NO
SUFFICIENT WHICH IS CAUSING FREQUENT NEAR MISSES AND INCIDENTS IN THE PARKING
LOT. RISK ASSESSMENT IS NOT CONDUCTED IN FOR THE PARKING AREA ALSO THE
NEAR MISSES AND INCIDENTS NOT REPORTED AND RECORDED.
DURING THE MEETING THE
OPERATION MANAGER ATTITUDE WAS ALSO VERY POOR TOWARDS HSE, WHILE INVESTIGATING THE RECENT
NEAR MISS HIS CASUAL WORDS WERE NOT TO WORRY ABOUT THIS SILLY THINGS THIS WAS
HAPPENING FROM
YEARS AND NO ONE GOT HURT YET AND THIS SHALL BE TAKEN CARE BY WORKERS
THEMSELVES.
THE CONSULTATION WITH THE
WORKERS IN THE ORGANISATION IS ALSO MISSING ON THE HEALTH AND SAFETY MATTERS THIS
ALSO REDUCES MORALE OF THE WORKER.
THE PARKING LOT IS MORE
ACCIDENT PRONE AREA AND FLOODLIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING AND FACILITY MANAGEMENT ISN'T
EVEN AWARE OF IT.
GENERAL HSE POLICY
IS NOT AVAILABLE AND NOT DISPLAYED ON THE NOTICE BOARD NO ONE IN THE
COMPANY IS AWARE OF THE HSE
POLICY. CONTRACT MANAGER RESPONDED THE HSE POLICY IS MADE AVAILABLE ONLY FOR
THE THIRD PARTIES BUT ALSO AGREES
IT IS IMPORTANT DOCUMENT.
CONCLUSION:
REFERRING TO THE HIGHLIGHTED
ABOVE DETAILS FROM THE SCENARIO THERE IS NO HSE SYSTEM PREVAILS IN THE ORGANIZATION
AND THERE IS BREACHING IN MORAL DUTY OF CARE FROM THE MANAGEMENT FORT HE
